In a hole in the ground there lived a...

One has to wonder what is really the point in relocating to eastern time zones, if not to have ultimate bragging rights on seeing all the big movies good 6 hours before they are released in Finland? However laws of karma apparently doesn't treat well cheaters like me. The Hobbit is being released one day ahead in Europe compared to Asia. I need to try to settle for some minor boasting like seeing the movie not only in HFR 3D, but in Imax , which has still not landed in Finland. That and the sheer hilarious scene of numbers of asian interpretations of Gandalf around me.

  1. Hahahah... The HFR was quite good. BTW did they show the first 9mins of Star Trek Into Darkness at the beginning of the Hobbit in your local IMAX theaters?

  2. They did indeed! What would be better experience for a nerd than a movie about Hobbit in some new cool technology -- seeing 9 minutes of the next Star Trek movie as an appetizer. And yes, it did look awesome. Even though I don't necessarily appreciate current trend of rebooting classics (world is filled with good books which just begs to be filmed, not to mention coming up with truly unique original IP!), the new Star Trek saga has it's merits and I can't be overly angry with it. Visual eye candy of epic scifi battles is not the least of those merits.

  4. The 9 minutes shown were from the middle of the movie during a scene where Kirk was not really adhering to Prime Directive and Spock trying to think his way out from a crater of a volcano which is already in the process erupting. Apologies for spoilers.
